Carnation Ruffle Cowl

Skill level: Intermediate

Knitting Needle Size: 17
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, worsted, medium, #4
Stitches Used: Knit

Start the cowl by casting on 26 stitches, knit and turn
each row until you have 95 rows. Cast off.
Opps, sorry about having the wrong number of rows before I counted the ridges and forgot to multiply by 2.

Crochet Hook Size:  I used a size G, but whatever works for you.
Yarn: Red Heart Boutique Sashay
Stitches Used:  Slip stitch

You will add the ruffle while your project is still flat and
join the ends together afterwards.

Lay your scarf out flat and long side towards you.
Open out the Sashay yarn, fold over at the 3rd opening loop at
the top of your yarn and lay on top of your scarf.

This is the video I used to figure out how to attach ruffle.

I know the following instructions are confusing, just leaving them here until I make this pattern again and can fix them.

Put your crochet hook thru the first knit stitch and then pick up the 3rd open loop on the Sashay yarn. Pull Sashay yarn through the first knit stitch.

Next take hold of your Sashay yarn and count 2 open loops from your hook and place hook through this stitch (you should actually be putting it through the folded over section as well). This counts as one yarn over, do twice more, pull the third yarn over through all the stitches on your crochet hook.

Put your crochet hook in the next loop, yarn over 3 times, and pull the last yarn over through all 3 stitches. Repeat to the end. To fasten off, cut Sashay yarn off the skein about 2 inches away from the end of your stitching. I then cut my Sashay yarn in the center of the ruffle and pull the top end through my last stitch.

Stitch the ends together to finish off. The ruffles lay down better if you have the stitching on the underside.
