Plaid Flannel Cowl
I saw a Cowl done in plaid fabric and decided I wanted one.
What I ended up with is a bit different than the one I was looking at,
but I think it turned out to be prettier than the one I was looking at.
Supplies: 24" of plaid flannel
1 1/2" covered button kit
Cut 2 - 12" x 43" wide pieces of fabric
- Cut a 6" x 12" piece off 1 of the pieces & use 4" to cover a button
- Take the left over 6" x 8" piece & sew the two longer sides together
to make a tube, turn right side out
- Roll under both long side edges of the remaining pieces
and seam over
- Take each piece and sew each piece together, with 1/2" seam,
on the short edges, using a long straight stitch and use it to
gather up the material. ("A")
- * Open up the circle of material that you now have and roll the seamed
edges till they meet in the center ("B")
- Place the smaller circle of material in your hand first, seams facing you
and do the same for the larger circle of material *
- Wrap the tube of material around the two pieces, centering over
the two seams, (off set the seams to reduce bulk) tuck one end under
and sew together catching both circles of fabric in your stitching,
but not the upper fabric of your tube
- Sew on the button or place a safety pin just under the top fabric
and pin the button to the tube.
I hope you all enjoy your new cowl scarves.
